Not Even Ubisoft Cares About Their Expendable "EXPANDABLES" tie-in game

The idea a video game tie-in to The Expendables 2 could be a lazy and terrible was essentially a universal truth. Today Ubisoft premiered their first game play trailer along with cameos from Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren reprising their original respective roles as Hale Caesar and Gunner Jensen. They'll be joined in the four-player co-op madness by Yin Ling (Jet Li) and Old Man With A Chip On His Shoulder (Slyvester Stallone).

There's a plot, but it's not like you need to know it. In fact, if the footage in any way appeals to you, you're possibly doing something wrong when it comes to playing these games. Frantic Smash TV! action can be fun, but when the appeal seems to be slow-motion zooming shots to show that you can block a fist and respond with a shotgun feels like such a wasted opportunity.

It's not like we're the only ones who feel let down by this. Ubisoft's own press department can barely muster up enough enthusiasm and it's their own product! That's the trouble with video game tie-ins. They're always more of a hassle than the product itself, if the developers don't take it that seriously.

Here's the trailer, where Terry Crews and Dolph Lundgren will beat you silly FOR playing the game. That sounds like the ultimate reason not to ever touch it when it does get released on the Playstation Network on August 1st and Xbox Live on August 15th.
