The original cat-and-mouse-and-bomb game returns for iOS today. Spy vs. Spy is a rebooted take on an original Commodore 64 game of the same name that follows the mis-adventures of the iconic White and Black spy from "MAD Magazine." Split into two screens, you control one of the spies as they search through 24 embassies for the all-encompassing briefcase while avoid, setting and falling into traps on the way to the exit.
You'll be encouraged to plant bombs, hide electrified water buckets and occasionally engage in knife fights with your opposing spy. There's even the weirdly pointless option to play in "Retro Mode," or "What if I could have an Apple II in my iPhone?" The swap back to low-rez graphics is only for those who want to truly relive the days before running water and your parents used leaches instead of band-aids if you had the plague. There'll also be the usual additions of achievements, online multiplayer against other players and leaderboards to prove your dominance when it comes to setting up other spies for a nasty surprise.
Currently no word on price or firm release date aside from this summer, but Spy vs. Spy will be completely cross-platform on iOS devices including iPhone, iPad and iPod.
