Gearbox Finally Talking About Brothers in Arms: Furious Four

The years haven't been kind to the latest installment of Brothers in Arms. Furious 4 was a much-hyped trailer revealed at E3 2011 that played highly on Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, down to an Apache-themed character and other intense stereotypes when it came to killing nazis--sorry, "nah-zees." Just pretend Brad Pitt said that.

The game's future seemed questionable when not-so-long ago when Ubisoft abandoned the copyright for Furious 4 via Twitter. But apparently there's a chance at redemption for the hyper-exploitation shooter with Gearbox, who are full on promoting Borderlands 2 these days. Speaking to CVG, CEO Randy Pitchford has wonderful news about the project:

"The game has evolved, I think people are going to be surprised by what they'll see, and it's still evolving. One of the reasons why we're not talking about it now is that it's evolving and we need to make further changes before we can start talking about it."

He quickly followed up by turning the conversation back to Borderlands 2 before any other subtle hints could be drawn out of that evolving hint. Originally scheduled as a Co-op shooter, now Furious 4 could be...what, exactly? Not-an-FPS? A real-time strategy game? Not the video game version of Basterds?

And if you doubt the obvious nods to the film:

and for comparison:

So, guess we'll see once Borderlands 2, Aliens: Colonial Marines and any other Gearbox developed games come out for a hint at where Furious 4 could be.
