Despite middling reviews, the F2P 3DS title Pokemon Shuffle has gotten over 3.5 million downloads within the first two months of its existence. To celebrate that fact, Nintendo and the Pokemon Company are hosting a limited time event where you can - you guessed it - get a new Pokemon.

Nor is it just any random Pokemon. You'll be able to pick up Celebi, the Mythical Psychic/Grass-type Pokemon, a Time Traveling whose appearance signifies peaceful times aheads. But just in case, Celebi can also knock out your opponent's Pokemon, should the need arise. Celebi - it's a genderless creature - is also available in the 3DS Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, but makes its debut appearance here.
The Celebi event runs from now, April 27 until May 18 at 6:00 a.m. UTC, so you have a little time to go catch it. Players who beat the Celebi stage for the first time will get 1000 coins, as well.

The event does require the latest patch update to Pokemon Shuffle, 1.1.11, so be sure to pick that up before trying to get Celebi. The patch will also let you access the GS ball, so it's really in your best interest to get it. Nobody wants to be playing with yesterday's toys, after all.
Pokemon Shuffle is a match-three title available exclusively for the 3DS. It is Nintendo's first major push into the F2P market which has been heavily criticized for its regen timers and microtransactions. The game was joined by the slightly better review Pokemon Rumble World earlier this month.
Let's hope that Nintendo can figure out its F2P model, and that Celebi will come back in time and tell us all about it.
