A brief teaser trailer may foreshadow more news on the return to San Andreas. Gamesradar strokes the rumor embers that the teaser released by the German gaming conference could mark the first new news on the fifth Grand Theft Auto since the game's trailer came out last May. It would gel with the earlier reports that publisher Take Two needs a bigger hit for their upcoming financial performance after Max Payne 3 became delayed and there's still no update on Rockstar's long-awaited spy thriller Agent.
It can't hurt that Take Two is officially showing off new material at the conference, but it's just that we're not sure which titles it could be. A Christmas release for GTA V would be an incredible surprise, and Rockstar could make every other game slanted for Winter 2012 prepare to have a very un-merry holiday season with another teaser.
Gamescom is still a month away, but this is a fine start to rumormongering and placing impossible expectations that could be delivered or ruined. Mainly it'd be fun to know if our return to San Andreas means getting back into complex plane hi-jackings and the idea we could be going around the skies with fighter jets--but that's probably not going to happen. After all, helicopters were barely brought into Grand Theft Auto 4 in the post-release DLC for The Ballad of Gay Tony.
