An AMD Earnings Call Has Seemingly Leaked The Release Timing For Windows 10

It appears an AMD executive has let slip that Windows 10 will be hitting in July.

As reported by Eurogamer (via a transcript from Seeking Alpha and a post on Releases), AMD's Lisa Su mentioned that the company was "factoring in" the release of Windows 10 "at the end of July", providing a much more specific timeframe than Microsoft's "summer".

This isn't an official announcement and is also likely subject to change, but hearing it from such a source speaking candidly (and probably prematurely) makes it fairly reliable. Windows 10 is going to be a free upgrade for anyone currently using Windows 8 or Windows 7 on PC or phone--a pretty great offer no matter where you stand. Windows 8 simply never gained a positive reputation, and Microsoft seems keen to move customers on to its next generation operating system.

The OS is no longer a mystery, either--Microsoft pulled the curtain off its new software at a press event in Jaunuary. You can learn about Windows 10 in the video below, and see how it integrates across Microsoft's platforms, including Windows Phone and Xbox gaming. You can, for example, stream games over local Wi-Fi from your Xbox One to tablets and PC. We'll wait for official word about the release date from Microsoft, but pencil in late July for the time being.
