Dark Knight Rises Revealed: Plot Spoiler, Tumblers, 3 Hour Runtime, T-shirts

With less than a few weeks before the release of director Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises," fans have been eagerly picking up any new leaks or info about the upcoming film.  Viewers were treated to a slew of TV spots and trailers which revealed more about the new characters Catwoman and Bane along with plot.

An officially released synopsis offer fans a taste of what to expect as it describes Batman's self-exile  and return to face a new villain threatening Gotham City.

"It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive.  Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good."

"For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda.

"Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile.  But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane," stated the synopsis.

As secretive as Nolan is for his Batman film projects, more insight on The Dark Knight Rises surfaced when the director was joined by actors Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt at the MTV Awards show.  The director spoke of the new threats Batman encounters along with presenting an epic war-like movie.

Fans will also be glad to know that The Dark Knight Rises officially received a 12A rating along with a confirmed running time of 164 minutes, or nearly 3 hours.  It would be the longest Batman film in Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy.  The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) confirmed the information and can be viewed at their website.

Those who want some Batman action before the release can flock to San Diego's Comic Con International next week for a glimpse at the tumblers used in the upcoming film.  In addition to seeing Batman's original Tumbler, fans can view the camouflage tumblers and all six Batmobiles spanning from the original TV series to Nolan's Batman trilogy.

Even soda makers Mountain Dew is getting into the marketing action as it teamed up with popular website Batman-News.com to give away The Dark Knight Rises t-shirts.  The marketing efforts accompany Mountain Dew's latest interactive website release DewGothamCity.com, where fans can collect more content.
