The first Star Wars Battlefront details have been revealed before the Star Wars Celebration announcements that were supposed to serve as its unveiling.

The AP posted a slew of details (seemingly before embargo was lifted) this morning, revealing the game's modes, locales, and features. The leaked release date of November 17 is in fact the official launch, and it will be coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
The game will take place amidst the original film trilogy, and offer multiplayer battles between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire for up to 40 players. Locales include the classics like Hoth, Endor, Tatooine, as well as more obscure locations like Sullust. A free DLC will be released before the premiere of The Force Awakens that will allow players to fight on the planet Jakku, revealed yesterday as the desert planet in the upcoming film. The Battle of Jakku will "explore the moment following Return of the Jedi when the New Republic confronted Imperial holdouts on the previously unseen Outer Rim enclave."

"You never get to see it in the new movie, so it was this brilliant opportunity to recreate the Battle of Jakku, which you only see the remnants of in the movie," said Battlefront executive producer Patrick Bach. "In the game, you actually get to play the Battle of Jakku. It's the same place from the new movie but 30 years earlier."
Other details now being revealed include what the modes for the game will look like. IGN reports that there will be no campaign, but missions you can take on alone or cooperatively. There will also be no space battles this time around, IGN can also confirm. The game will clearly work a bit differently than the past titles, and the developers want to get the planetary battles right.
There will be the AT-ATs and other iconic Star Wars vehicles and locations to help nail the franchise's feel--let's hope it looks good in motion. Head over to the stories at IGN and AP for more details and quotes.
