Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has shipped over one million copies across Europe and North America, adding strong commercial performance to its critical success.
PS Vita System Update 3.50 Reportedly Increased Free System Memory By 30 Percent
The Nintendo 3DS title launched on February 13, and the number of copies includes both digital and retail versions of the game. It's worth noting that Capcom specifically used the word shipped, not sold--these are copies sent to retailers, and all of them have not necessarily been bought off store shelves.
According to Capcom, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is the fastest-selling game in the series. It also has the highest Metascore, the publisher points out, if you're into that sort of measuring stick. Whether or not you adhere to Metacritic's murky scoring system (and the idea that publishers offer employee payment based on these scores), there's no denying that Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was met with mainly very positive reviews.

To celebrate the accomplishment, Capcom is offering a special free Nintendo 3DS theme. It will become available for download in May as a token of appreciation for fans. The Monster Hunter series as a whole has sold more than 32 million copies worldwide. Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate can be played on any 3DS or 2DS system, but it does benefit from the added control options (mainly, the additional stick) of the New 3DS XL. On the new system it also boasts enhanced graphics, a product of the improved hardware.
