The Apple Watch is set to launch later this month, and it's packed with various features. Among those is the ability to play games, but there has been a question of what software will actually be available for the device.

Enter Runeblade, a title from Everywear Games, which claims to be the first dedicated smartwatch development studio. Runeblade is an adventure game exclusively for Apple Watch that combines adventure with light RPG elements.
As the name may give away, Runeblade is set in a high-fantasy world that casts the player as the High Priestess of the War Mages (stop me if you've heard this before) tasked with stopping an ancient evil. Players will level up gear and spells in a pick-up-and-play style.

"With Runeblade, we wanted to create a fresh, new kind of gaming experience on smartwatches," said Aki Järvilehto, CEO of Everywear Games. "The game is designed to be played in 5-15 second sessions and builds over time as you progress through the journey. We're excited to help pioneer game development on Apple Watch with a fully original title designed specifically for smartwatch gaming."
You can watch a trailer for Runeblade below, which does look intriguing. It's impossible to say how it plays (especially on the Apple Watch's tiny interface) without hands on time, but I'm as open to fictional lands and defeating monsters as anyone.
