Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man To Show Up At Comic-Con?

Marvel's shrinking AND going cosmic at San Diego Comic-Con with at least one confirmable rumor. Edgar Wright, director of Scot Pilgrim Vs. The World and Hot Fuzz, did finish working on a proposed Ant-Man film. Except calling it a film is being generious and completely false. The test reel was shot by the director, according to The Hollywood Reporter, to get a feel for how the character's trademarked shrinking and growing would look on screen. The shoot also tried to get a handle on Wright's take, since there've been two more additional characters in the funny ant-controlling helmet since the original, Hank Pym, appeared in the "Avengers" comics.

On the other end, which isn't even shot yet, comes from Latino Review's semi-spoiler that the next Marvel franchise to get a film treatment will be Guardians of the Galaxy. The cosmic title's been around since 1969 and featured a team of time-traveling galactic heroes trying to stop an alien race in an alternate universe. They were re-appropriated in 2008 to fight other characters in the main Marvel universe and became fan-favorites that even found their way into Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with Rocket Racoon--which is funny, since even Ant-Man makes a cameo during Hawkeye's Level 3 Super Move.

The plot for Guardians will involve Thanos, who showed up at the end of Avengers, and will probably tie directly into the Avengers sequel after Iron Man, Captain America and Thor get their own respective solo sequels next year, 2013 and 2014.

There'll be even more to hear when Comic-Con kicks into gear on July 12th.
