Marvel Studios announced today that they will be at next month's San Diego Comic-Con to give fans their first look at "Iron Man 3." Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige will appear at Marvel's panel Saturday, July 14th, from 6 to 7PM. Feige will also be joined by unnamed "special guests."
Set to take place after the events of "The Avengers," Iron Man 3 is said to be a more personal story for Tony Stark, who will once again played by Robert Downey Jr. No official plot synopsis has been released yet, but reports claim Iron Man's arch nemesis from the Marvel comics, the Mandarin, will be played by Ben Kingsley. However, Latino Review reports that the Mandarin will be more of a "veiled threat as a silent partner," to Aldrick Killian, played by Guy Pearce.
The "Extremis" storyline from the comics was reportedly a major influence on the movie's story. Latino Review says that Extremis will be used by Killian to create an army of super-powered individuals, which is where villains Coldblood and Firepower, played by Ashley Hamilton, may come in.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle are both confirmed to return to play as Pepper Potts, and James "Rhodey" Rhodes respectively. Despite Shane Black taking the helm as director, Jon Favreau will still return as Tony's chauffeur/assistant, Happy Hogan. Hong Kong actor Andy Lau recently left the film to spend time with his family.
Currently in production, "Iron Man 3" is set for release on May 3rd, 2013.
