Borderlands 2 Goes Orchestral in the Wasteland

Overcoming the "James Cameron Effect" when dealing with overwhelming alien worlds is a problem. So it seems like the folks over at Epic decided to take a Capcom route with three music producers that literally go from classical to sludge-heavy noise rock. After all, how can you have a Borderlands game with the trademark dubstep "wub wub"?

Jesper Kyd, Cris Velasco and Sacha "Sonic Mayehm" Dikicyan join the game as the musical maestros that'll control your ears when not focused on exploding mutants and scoring headshots. The trio seems like a perfect fit for the manic landscape of Pandora (again, "James Cameron Effect!") due to their combined respective backgrounds on the Assassin's Creed series, Mass Effect 3 and Quake II soundtracks.

You'll get to bask in the full sounds of new Pandoria in September exclusively on the XBox 360. The full release below:

Los Angeles, June 27, 2012 - Award-winning composers Jesper Kyd, Cris Velasco and Sascha Dikiciyan have created the genre-bending musical score for the highly anticipated Role-Playing-Shooter video game Borderlands™ 2 from Gearbox Software and 2K Games. Borderlands 2 is the sequel to the multi-million selling cooperative shooter-looter that combined intense first-person mayhem with role-playing gameplay.

Composers Velasco/Dikiciyan and Kyd were assigned the task of creating a colorful and dynamic music score for Borderlands 2's adrenaline-fuelled combat and diverse atmospheric environments. To accompany players' loot-hunting adventures in the cell-shaded, eclectic world of Pandora, the soundtrack fuses multiple music styles and cutting-edge sonic palettes which exude the multi-faceted personality and thrilling co-op action of Borderlands 2.

Borderlands 2 features all-new characters; skills; imaginative, diverse new environments with unique missions and enemies, and more exciting and fun weapons, equipment and loot than ever before. All of these features come together in a story that takes players to the world of Pandora to take down the notorious Handsome Jack and his corrupt Hyperion Corporation as a solo campaign or with up to four cooperative players.

Borderlands 2 will be available on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows-based PC in North America on September 18, 2012 and internationally on September 21, 2012. For more information on Borderlands 2, please visit www.borderlands2.com.
