In a tale of the tape, Resistance: Fall of Man is on par with Halo . Both were console specific to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 as per their respective consoles. Halo doominated with nearly seven games, eight novels and an animated omnibus film. Resistance just has five games, one book and a comic franchise.
The First-Person Shooters seemed to be neck and neck throughought the aughts, but now Sony is letting their alternative alien history that buiilt itself through the World War die quietly. During an interview with the Official Playstation Magazine UK, the developers of Resistance: Burning Skies revealed that Sony has no future plans for the franchise past this.
Essentially, Sony has "no future plans" for the franchise. Which is fairly damning when the tea leaves are showing a clear shift into action-adventure titles like Uncharted over the initial FPS craze at the start of the then "next generation" console wars. Even Halo 4 is sort of a boring yawn compared to what's being developed for modern next-gen consoles like Watch Dogs and Star Wars 1313.
What about your own experience with Resistance? Sad to see it go, couldn't care less, or were you even aware there was a third game?
