Scrolls, the new game from the developers of Minecraft, came back to life today after nearly a year of no updates. On the official blog, the Mojang team discuss how their latest game will be released. The game's obviously not an open-world construction game like Minecraft, but instead delves into the realm of collectable card games and turn-based battle. Players will square off against one another or by themselves and search for new cards to add to their decks, giving them power ups and changing the battlefield.
Matches will include going against AI, multiplayer and deck building while Mojang are still keeping a stand-alone single player mode in mind.
The gameplay itself depends on your units and which of the titular scrolls you have in your inventory. The system seems to be a little confusing, since they hint that you'll either find scrolls or be able to purchase them in the game. Which brings back all sorts of nightmares from the days of Magic: The Gathering mixed with new DLC issues. The alpha testing of the game will start soon, based on an earlier--their first, actually--post. So if you want to experience the next craze that'll suck away all your time on PC before it inevitably comes to the XBox after months of your friends telling you about their new obsession, head to the Mojang forums and see if you can't sneak a way into Scrolls.
