The cross-promotional epic game is something of a Japanese secret, which Project X Zone is about to reveal for the U.S. market. Bandai's Super Robot Wars series spans the Playstation, PSP and Nintendo DS with overlapping characters from Gundam, Neon Genesis Evangelion, The Big O and Robotech franchises. Only with Project X Zone will the focus turn on 200 characters from various Namco, Capcom and Bandai franchises.
Andriasang points to the production blog outlining the numbers for the upcoming RPG, which includes characters from Street Fighter, Tekken, Dead Rising, Darkstalkers, Virtua Fighter and even the main character from Space Harrier. The exact amount of playable characters are up in the air, but the enemies at least will be coming from the various games and themed around them. So there's a big chance we'll be able to kill zombies, battle giant mechs from Xenogear and probably engage in gigantic battles with armies of Jacks from Tekken.
The Nintendo 3DS exclusive is still scheduled for 2012 with no exact release date given.
