Halo Championship Series Season 1 Recap: Evil Geniuses Crowned Deserved Winners
VICE has released a video series documenting a trip to South Korea aiming to explore the eSports culture. Video games are more of less full-on sports in the country, and millions upon millions of people play League of Legends--more than live in France, VICE points out.
In the first part of the video, host Matt Shea arrives in Seoul to begin checking out the scene--he's there to attend the League of Legends world semi-finals. Honestly, it's a cool documentary, but it's clear Shea is a total stranger to competitive gaming. That's fine, but it leads to the series taking more of an outsider edge that treats eSports as a curiousity, rather than embracing it. He's not outright condescending necessarily, but you can see the skepticism about the whole affair come through.
