Over the weekend at PAX East, Square Enix revealed a moving and very dramatic trailer for its upcoming Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.
The Week In Games, March 9 Through 16: Hotline Miami 2, Ori, DMC, Codename STEAM And More
I must say that, in terms of marketing campaign, Type-0 is handily winning the war against its more anticipated cousin, Final Fantasy XV. I fully understand that Type-0 is currently available for PSP so I can go and experience it for myself in all of its last-gen, handheld glory. Now, all I need is a PSP. They still make those, right?
The trailer recuts and even adds some new cinematics of the war that wages across the nation states of Orience. This is not your daddy's Final Fantasy, this is mean, this is dark, this is a brutal hand to hand operation that will spill blood by buckets before the end arrives.
Meet The Crew Of Final Fantasy XV In This PAX East Video
As a sucker for any dramatic dialogue over equally dramatic footage, the voiceover the trailer uses - narrated by Ace, I believe - is one for the books.
"Walk on wandering souls, for your respite we pray.
Let our humble song clear your hearts of dismay.
We kindle the flame and set you free.
So walk on, and become the light.
It guides the way."
Final Fantasy Type-0 HD is out next week on March 17 for both PS4 and Xbox One. Players who pre-order - and only players who pre-order - will gain access to the Final Fantasy XV demo, titled Episode Duscae. You can get a glimpse at what's in store at the end of the trailer below.
