PAX East: Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward Release Date Delayed, First Expansion To MMO Due Out In June; Mac Version Announced

FF XIV Players Will Have To Wait A Little While Longer To Go Heavensward

Square Enix revealed the shipping date of Heavensward, the first expansion to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, this weekend at PAX East.

Get To Know The Crew Of Final Fantasy XV

Though originally planned for spring of this year, the expansion will now be hitting severs on all platforms on June 23. Director Naoki Yoshida was on hand to deliver the hour long panel in Boston. Choosing to delay the game was a tough decision, but was ultimately approved due to the large amount of content that will launch with the expansion.

Heavensward brings a wealth of new content and brings players to the icy north of Ishgard, as well two new beast tribes, the Vanu Vanu and Gnath and the first neutral job, Dark Knight.

Revised Planeswalkers Coming To Upcoming Magic: The Gathering Expansions

The expansion will come in three separate editions: a limited version which will come with a real world item and in-game bonuses; a complete edition which will come packaged with both A Realm Reborn and Heavensward, so you can get in on the action right now; and the boring, standard version with just the expansion.

Pre-orders begin on Monday, March 16. Early access for Heavensward will begin a few days before full release, on June 19. Expect further information in the days and weeks ahead, and several preparatory patches in the meantime.

And exciting news - at least for me - there are plans for FF XIV to come to Mac! Huzzah!
