The Old Republic To Become Free?

Now you see the interview saying Star Wars: The Old Republic could be free to play, now you don't! GamesTM had an interview with Emmanuel Lusinchi, lead designer for SWTOR, where he reportedly said "Unless people are happy with what they have, they are constantly demanding updates, new modes and situations. So we are looking at free-to-play but I can't tell you in much detail. We have to be flexible and adapt to what is going on."

Except if you try clicking the link, you get an error page. It's not just you--the story, "Star Wars: The Old Republic: 'we are looking at free-to-play,' says lead designer" is the most read on the site, but it's just not there. So why was the story pulled down as quickly as it was up not three hours ago? Maybe confirming that the MMORPG was about to become free for the first 15 levels before your character gets capped was a secret?

Not really. It got confirmed at E3 last week, along with the presentation of a new assassin droid as your character's possible companion. So, did Lusinchi reveal something else in his interview? Or did GamesTM just decide to make the most popular story an error for the sheer heck of it? Just how free is BioWare thinking of taking it until money becomes an issue?

All these questions and more will be answered next time there's any question about an upcoming game in the Star Wars universe!
