When Jim Gordon warned Batman at the end of Batman Begins about escalation, no one could be prepared for what our mobile devices would turn into. Gameloft has the unfortunate job of bringing the Christopher Nolan universe back to gaming with their take on The Dark Knight Rises, which teases a "Summer 2012" release date for iOS and Android.
IGN's exclusive trailer showcases everything you'd expect from Batman: punching, walking stiff with the entirity of Gotham on your shoulder, kicking, the occasional headbutt. Uh. Headbutt? We mentioned that already? Nuts.
It certainly looks decent, but that's to be expected when most games being released for iOS now are coming with Retina Display in mind. This will only be the second game based on Nolan's universe, as The Dark Knight was scrapped after the death of Health Ledger. It was going to feature a sense of flying, according to Gary Oldman, that came out better in Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. If you're worried about the developer, don't be! Why, Gameloft has never put out a single movie-related iOS game that could make anyone cringe. Not...at...all....
Though we'd love to be proven wrong later this summer.
