As Eurogamer reports, the gold figure was promoted on a poster for Mario Party 10, and it will only be coming to Walmart. At the current time, it will also only be launching in the U.S.
"This is a U.S. announcement and we have nothing to announce at present for the European market," a Nintendo U.K. spokesperson told Eurogamer.

This is the first special edition amiibo that only offers a color swap, but fans will likely go bananas for a gold-plated Mario. Other than the color, it's an identical figure to the upcoming normal version in the Super Mario line. The figure has actually not yet been officially revealed by Nintendo, but its presence on the poster and comments to Eurogamer let us know it's on the way.
It seems the figure will be launching alongside Mario Party 10 given the poster, which is due out March 12 for Wii U. Amiibo has been very successful so far for Nintendo, moving nearly 6 million units in the last two months of 2014. In addition to looking nice, the figures are NFC capable and can communicate with Wii U and New 3DS titles, storing digital characters and giving players bonuses in certain games.
