EA Mobile has released yet another big event for The Simpsons: Tapped Out, its incredibly popular free-to-play Simpsons title. Now, superheroes and villains have decended upon Springfield, and it's up to The Simpsons to save it.
"What makes a hero a hero other than meat, bread, and mayo? Wait, WHAT?? Superheroes? Homer isn't going to be happy about this one...Heroes and villains are flooding Springfield and the fate of the town is in your hands! You've built your town - now it's time to save it!Join iconic Simpsons characters as their alter-egos fight against the forces of evil."
Homer's alter-ego is Pie Man, a free outift is given to you after updating your game and completing a 30-minute "Fling Pies Indoors" action after Homer goes "Snackwalking" in the middle of the night. Unlock it and Man will go crazy and startattacking Springfieldians, making you construct a new building (Superior Squad HQ) which unlocks Fallout Boy, Radioactive Man's sidekick.
Unfortunately his first action kills Radioactive Man and the sidekick is left without a side, the town without a protector.
Opportunistic villains immediately emerge from the woodwork but fortutuantely, you can tap on them to dispense justice. As per usual for these events there's a new currency to collect, starting with Carbon Rods. You can do this by tapping on villains sneaking around your Springfield, or those of your friends'. Unlike some other previous events in The Simpsons: Tapped Out you'll be able to get the currency from your friends even if they haven't updated it with the event, which is a nice touch. You also get more chances to earn than most, as you can report three crimes in buildings as well as tap on three criminals.
Collect enough during this first issue and you can earn the Burns State Prison building and Krusty superhero outfit "Clownface" as limited-time prizes. Course, you can also pay real-world money for this- it is a free-to-play game, after all.
Issue 2 of the event is coming next week and is called No Laughing Matter. When it launches it will change the currency you have to collect to Pie Bombs, which will offer new prizes to unlock, the National Bank of Springfield, and The Collector (Comic Book Guy outfit) and Dr Colossus (outfit for Dr. Herbert?)
Issue 3 will have you unlocking Freeze Rays, which will unlock Super Jeb (Jebediah Springfield Statue), Death Mountain location, and The Collider.
More details on Issue 4, the last part of this event, will come soon, although it too will offer three exclusive items.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available to download for free on the iTunes App Store, Google Playand the Amazon Appstore.
