Skill goes a long way in Destiny, but can still only carry you so far. Your gear more than anything else will determine success, and there is a plethora of weapons and gun types to choose from.
The Best Legendary Weapons In Destiny Across Each Gun Type
Each category has its own uses, but it serves to have a varied arsenal. We'll break down each weapon type for you, listing the best exotics and legendaries in each type. Below are the best Rocket Launchers available in Destiny, with multiple options to suit different scenarios.
This should be no surprise to any player, as Gjallarhorn is not only Destiny's best Rocket Launcher, but its most powerful weapon. If Solar damage, high attack, and homing rockets weren't enough, Gjallarhorn's missiles split into smaller projectiles on impact, which also track enemies before exploding again. This effect basically equates to hitting an enemy with the damage of two rockets at once, and that's just not something any other weapon in the game can match. You can also draw, aim, or reload the weapon quickly depending on which talent you choose, and it happens to be adorned with awesome wolf carvings.
This gem can only be awarded in Crota's End Hard Mode, making it difficult to acquire for many. It also packs Solar damage and tracking rockets, making it very useful in every scenario, and its rockets also release another cluster on detonation. They don't track like Gjallarhorn's Wolfpack Rounds and are not quite as effective. The advantage is that Hunger of Crota is a Legendary weapon, not an Exotic, so it frees up a slot for you to simultaneously have Ice Breaker or another weapon equipped.
Back into the Exotic category, Truth is simply an effective and powerful Rocket Launcher. Its homing missles (a common theme you'll notice--the Crota fight has made tracking rockets much more relevant) deal Void damage and seek their target more aggressively than any other weapon. They also detonate on proximity, which can take away the need for very precise aim when firing toward a group or lining up a shot in a hurry. It can also get you killed if you use it on an approaching enemy, but such is the danger of rockets. If you can't get your hands on one of the two above, Truth is a very effective option.
Legendary Triple Threat
From here, your options are varied as it depends on the talents you roll. One Way Ticket, Valedictorian, and Radegast's Fury can all be equally effective, though there are differences. Talents aside, the former has extremely high Velocity while the other two are at the top of the Blast Radius range. There are a few differences in Reload Speed and Rate of Fire, but you'll want to choose based on the situation and the best talents.
