Homeworld Remastered 4K Cinematic Trailer Shows Off The Remake's Shiny HD Visuals

Homeworld Remastered's launch is getting closer, ready to deliver a modern version of the classic RTS titles to eager fans. The main draw is the upgraded visuals for both Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2, dragging the 1999 and 2003 graphics into the modern age.

Gearbox is including some high-powered resolutions in the remastering, allowing the game to display up to 4K. A new trailer has been released to show off the sharp new visuals, and you can watch in 4K yourself if you've got the hardware.

The cinematic video shows one of the game's cutscenes, and you can see the improved fidelity even though it's relatively low action. The recreated soundtrack is easy to appreciate, another of the bells and whistles Gearbox is packing into the release. It's not all visuals and sound--the multiplayer modes of the first two games have been combined into one new, unified experience that marries the features of both.

"Homeworld is among the greatest strategy games in history, and we're very proud of the work our team has put into bringing this exceptional series to modern PCs," said Brian Martel, Chief Creative Officer at Gearbox Software. "We received a lot of great feedback from the passionate Homeworld fan community, and we hope to deliver a game they - and new fans from around the world - can get lost in for countless hours to come."

The upgraded design is married with new textures and models in a way that should bring back old fans and draw in new strategy players. You can watch previous developer diary videos here and here. Homeworld Remastered will release for PC on February 25.
