Play League of Legends? You Might Want to Change Your Password


Following in line with linkedin, European League of Legends players were informed yesterday via email that their accounts were hacked.

But as for the good news, Riot Games reports that "Absolutely no" billing or payment information was breached. While Riot does store passwords in encrypted form, more than half of the passwords at risk were simple enough to crack. Among the information leaked included email addresses, summoner names, birth dates, account passwords, and for an unfortunate few, players' full names, security questions, and responses. Riot says they're currently working with the proper authorities.

In a post informing players of the breach, President of Riot Games, Marc Merill said he and Riot "take your privacy and security seriously, and we're working diligently to improve it for the better." Merill claims to have fixed the security issue the hackers exploited, and promises to keep players informed of any changes by updating the post. He also
