What Samsung Galaxy S3 Users Will Miss if Apple Wins Ban Bid

The battle between Apple and Samsung continues even as Apple has asked to ban the sale of Samsung S3 in the US.  Samsung's latest smartphone is expected to go on sale this month, but things may change if Samsung loses to Apple's ban bid.

Apple has claimed that Samsung violated its patent for SIRI, the voice controlled assistant as it introduced "S-Voice" in its newest flagship phone Samsung Galaxy S3 and also infringed the automatic detection of certain types of data such as phone numbers, email addresses and hyperlinks as reported by The Inquirer.

"The Galaxy S3 will... irreparably harm Apple for the same reasons as the Galaxy Nexus, but on a much greater scale," said Mark Lyon, one of Apple's Primary Lawyer.

"The central premise of Samsung's opposition to Apple's motion for a preliminary injunction was that the Galaxy Nexus had not sold sufficiently well to cause severe enough harm to Apple. While that argument is legally and factually untenable, it is entire inapplicable with respect to the Galaxy S3, which reportedly will sell phenomenally well immediately upon launch," added Lyon.

Despite the litigation charge made by Apple, Samsung has claimed that they have built S3 with its own innovative technology.  If the Apple's ban bid does follow through, Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with a 4.5 HD Super AMOLED display with 720p resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 2.  It includes 8MP camera and a 1.9MP front camera which offers a variety of intelligent camera features and face recognition related options.  It also includes energy-efficient chip exceeding 1.4GHz per core with multi-tasking features and powerful performance and efficient energy management technology, Exynos 4 Quad's.

S3 comes with other features like Smart Stay, Wi-Fi Channel Bonding, S Voice,  "Smart alert" along with 'Game Hub,' providing access to numerous social games in Galaxy S3 and is also NFC enabled.

TmoNews news reported that the metallic blue version of the phone for 16GB and 32GB will be available on T-Mobile on June 20. The 16GB ceramic white Galaxy S3 will not be made available till the 11th June according to the site.

With high reviews and a strong demand, Samsung plans to fight back in order to deliver their next-gen smartphones to U.S customers.

"Samsung believes Apple's request is without merit. We will vigorously oppose the request and demonstrate to the court that the Galaxy S3 is innovative and distinctive... We believe that Apple's actions would only serve to disrupt consumers' access to the latest innovative mobile technology," according to a statement issued by Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S3 began selling to the European market on the May 29th. Over 9 million pre-orders for its third-generation Galaxy S smartphone were placed even before the device has been launched. Pre order sales of Samsung Galaxy S3 overseas have gone viral breaking past records.

As reported by European Mobile phone retailer Carphone Warehouse, the smartphone is the fastest selling pre-order phone of the year.

"Pre-order demand for the new Galaxy S3 has surpassed expectations since the handset was first unveiled two weeks ago. The first 24 hours alone saw thousands placing their pre-order at Carphone Warehouse," said Graham Stapleton, Chief Commercial Officer at Carphone Warehouse and as reported in The Telegraph.

There have been speculations that Samsung Galaxy S3 will become a fastest selling gadget beating its rival iPhone 4S.
