The Patriots may have won the Big Game last night - finally, I might add - but in terms of the real contest last night between the forces of capitalism, I think it's safe to say that Clash of Clans ran away with the prize.

Naturally, I'm a little biased, but it is not because of my love of all things Clash of Clans, but because Liam Neeson is one of the best men of all time. Neeson, in full Taken mode, perfectly captures the feeling after my defenses fail - I don't care who you are, but I have a particular set of skills (mostly dragons) and I will end your miserable life (your village).
While I do not approve of revenge as a real world concept, I can absolutely get behind Liam Neeson seeking vengeance upon a digital foe whilst waiting for his coffee at a shop.
Speaking Of Revenge, Ardan From Vainglory Is On The Warpath, Too
The response on social media has been positive. Even people who disapprove of Clash of Clans F2P model had to admit that the commercial was pretty great. You can bet a significant amount of money that that ad got a whole new segment of people curious about the game. The official Youtube version has already gotten over 7 MILLION VIEWS. That's some Psy level stuff going on. I'd be interested to see the spike in downloads since its airing.
Plus, Supercell - the company behind Clash of Clans - recently unleashed a new Barbarians and Dragons limited event, in which players could train those two particular units very quickly. Since they are not the high level raiding units that the champion teams use in the clan wars, it was a... peculiar choice. But now we know why: Neeson is a scorched earth kind of guy, and he will send any number of men to his death before burning the corpses of not only your men but his men.
Liam Neeson does not forgive, and he does not forget. Watch the best Superbowl ad below!
