E3 2012 Impressed with Star Wars 1313

While some say this year’s E3 Expo is disappointing because many rumored next-gen consoles are absent, the annual video game convention indeed provided some next-gen games such as the breathtaking “Star Wars 1313”.

Star Wars 1313 is the most lucrative gaming franchise this year offered by LucasArts as we can see from the fantastic gameplay video and screenshots.

The game puts the player in a bounty hunter role from the underworld of Coruscant. As a third-person, the player will navigate the planet’s subterranean level 1313 as they try to discover the truth of a criminal conspiracy.

Star Wars 1313 is definitely next-gen, with its incredible facial animation far in advance of all the current generation platforms. As LucasArts said the game is only in “pre production”, analysts believe it will have to run on the next-gen platforms. This would mean that the game will probably be released in 2013 when the new consoles have been launched.

The game developer, Dominic Robilliard, said at E3 that the demo had been created on a high-end NVIDIA computer. He added that the release date for the game will be announced later this year, which makes the 2013 release more likely.

LucasArts is undertaking an integrated development approach for the newest Star War game franchise. With Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation, and Skywalker Sound all involved in the development, obviously LucasArts is hoping to provide something really big by bringing in top artistic and technical talents and beyond fancy physics engines (Force Unleashed) and MMOs (The Old Republic).

What’s more, according to LucasArts, the new game will take a darker, more “mature” approach to the Star Wars universe, starting with the main character and the plot.

“Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we’ve always known existed, but never had a chance to visit,” said President of LucasArts, Paul Meegan.
