Last October, Bandai Namco brought it back to the 80s. Not only did they reveal a new Star Wars game, but the announced that it was going to be an arcade racer - the likes of which we so rarely see in these console days of glory. While people may not frequent the arcades anymore (a sad state of affairs), perhaps the new Star Wars: Battle Pod can bring them back.

New details have emerged regarding the racing/action, which will feature "a special dome shaped screen that surrounds a player's field of sight, controller and seat vibration synced with the action taking place on screen, special air blast technology that simulates wind that's felt during flight, and 5.1 surround sound." To the surprise of no one, the game is getting some Hoth support.
That's right, for the millionth time across as many titles, players can take to the Snowspeeders made famous in The Empire Strikes Back and hold off the Imperial invasion for as long as possible, allowing their allies and cargo ships to escape. While done to death, the invasion of Hoth is one of cinema's greatest action sequences and no matter how many times we can relive it in game, we're always ready to go back.
The Art Of Evolve Will Feature Never Before Seen Sketches Of The Development Process
However, Battle Pod will also feature an all-new (surely non-EU canon) storyline in which players can assume the role of the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader. In the Vader's Revenge storyline players take control of a TIE Advanced Fighter - the one used by the former Skywalker at the end of A New Hope - and prevent those pesky rebels from seizing a superlaser from the remnants of the original Death Star.
Star Wars Battle Pod is out now at an arcade...near you? Is there an arcade near you? Or at least a fancy bar/arcade? A...Barcade, if you will?
