ArenaNet has announced Heart of Thorns, the first expansion for Guild Wars 2.
Destiny's House Of Wolves Will Try Not To Frustrate Veteran Players, According To Bungie
The MMO launched back in 2012 and has not yet experience its first full-fledged expansion, opting instead for a series of Seasons that changed the content while other updates tweaked gameplay.
Heart of Thorns will take players deep into the Maguuma Jungle to continue the battle against Mordremoth's minions, bringing new storylines and group content. Instead of merely pushing the level cap up by 10 more to 90, the developers are adding a Mastery leveling system. This includes skills and abilities like hang gliding, tearing materials off enemies, and collecting items that can lead to new weapons.
Dying Light's Be A Zombie Mode Will Be Free To All Players
Profession specializations will unlock access to weapons previously unavailable to your character and offer new traits and mechanics. An entirely new profession, Revenant, uses heavy armor and the "legendary" powers to destroy enemies. Guilds will also be able to claim and grow Guild Halls within Maguuma. A PvP Stronghold mode is being added, as well as a new World vs World map, Borderlands.
A trailer for Heart of Thorns can be seen below. It offers a pretty good view of the expansion, showing off the new characters, locales, and skills that will be unleashed in the release. There's no launch date as of yet, but we'll keep you posted. Guild Wars 2 has had roughly an expansion's worth of content since launch, and this will be the first official packaged release--a specific date might've helped fans wait a bit longer, but it's definitely on the way.
