The fact Watch Dogs surprised even the Ubisoft presentation yesterday at e3 shouldn't after that trailer.
Prematurely posted onto YouTube (now back), the trailer of in-game footage from Ubisoft Montreal showcases bits of digital information scurrying around until it forms a city-scape a~la The Matrix or Hackers. It happens in bursts at first when Aiden Pearce casually checks his smart phone, as lines branch out from it and connect to street lights, cameras and other phones while giving options to disable them or take control.
The implications here are as far-ranging as Eden of the East to Johnny Mnemonic ending folks on the cyberpunk cyberspace wasteland. No systems or release dates were given at press time. The vibe runs well with Ubisoft's fare, as the tagline "Everything is connected. Connection is power" lingers back to the Assassin's Creed mantra of "Nothing is true, everything is permitted."
