Bad news for Tom Hardy fans who were looking forward to seeing him in the new Suicide Squad movie. The actor has dropped out of production of the film due to the "scheduling conflicts," the ever present bane to production.

The Hollywood Reporter said that the drop out was due to his prior commitment to The Reverent (which has gone overschedule in production) and this press commitments to Mad Max: Fury Road. The remake of the cult classic will be releasing right when Suicide Squad will be filming so it would be tricky to figure out production and his press schedule.
So instead the actor who was to play the role of Rick Flagg, leader of the Squad, has said no thank you and walked away.

The studio immediately contacted Jake Gyllanhaal to fill the role, reports TheWrap. Gyllanhaal had worked with the director David Ayer on the film End of Watch. Whether the actor can take the role would depend on if he's interested and of course, his own scheduling issues. He's currently working on Broadway for the play Constellations which will run till mid-March.
Since Suicide Squad is scheduled to begin shooting in mid-April, this may not give Gyllanhaal enough time get ready for the role and he may have to decline it as well. There's no official word yet from his camp.
