Volume, The Next Game From Thomas Was Alone Creator Mike Bithell, Has A Sharp New Trailer

Thomas Was Alone creator Mike Bithell has pulled the curtains off his next title, Volume, just a bit more with a new trailer focused on the game's enemies.

Other than fairly minimalistic visuals, Volume doesn't seem to have much in common with Thomas Was Alone. The game is a top-down stealth game focused on avoiding a variety of foes throughout maze-like levels.

It looks pretty sharp, and the trailer (below) shows that the different enemies affect the gameplay in demonstrable ways. Various AI behavior forces the player to navigate the levels on the fly in specific ways, such as the anxiety-inducing chase-down behavior of the Pawn, or the swift-moving Rogue. It seems the player has some abilities of his own, but getting caught looks like the end of the line.

The aesthetics are quite cool, as is the music used in the trailer. The tagline says "steal, create, be heard", with the middle of those aspects the most intriguing. There's a brief section of the trailer that shows the player sending forth some figure to attack an enemy, but it's all pretty unclear.

As the ending states, more information is upcoming in the official PlayStation UK Magazine. Volume will be out for PC, Mac, PS4, and PS Vita some time in 2015.
