Kingdom Hearts III - while definitely, actually 'no for real this time' is happening - is just not happening any time soon.
The voice of Goofy, Bill Farmer, was chatting with fans via Twitter yesterday when he mentioned that the voice acting for the game had been complete. Now, given the sheer amount of cutscenes in the series, not to mention the characters, that is a feat unto itself. He let slip that the game "is supposed to come out this year".

And the internet lost its mind.
The last official console entry into the franchise - not including spinoffs, handhelds or the endless number of remakes and remasters - was in 2005. We've waited a long time for games, but even that's a bit ridiculous. I mean, Disney acquired both Marvel and Lucasfilm in that time! Yet chances are we won't be seeing either in the upcoming third entry.
The excitement was short lived, however, Square Enix swooped in and ruined all the fun. Citing that Farmer's tweet was a "goof" and the release date "remains unannounced".
So, Kingdom Hearts III remains a beautiful 'eventually'. Who knows though, there are a lot of days between now and 2016.
