There has been no shortage of impressive Minecraft constructs built over the years, but some of the most amazing projects are the variety of functional programs and computers that players have created.
The Witcher 3 PC System Requirements Are As Monstrous As Geralt's Prey
Minecraft player Koala_Steamed has developed a working word processor within the game using redstone, a staggering feat that took an unknowable amount of wiring and confguration. All of the data input runs through a single line of redstone and onto a 5x10 display. (Via PC Gamer)
You can see it in action in the video below--the player says in the YouTube description that it took about two years to complete. It's certainly not quick (individually selecting letters by moving between each button on a grid takes time), but I think it's easy to appreciate the creation beyond that. Koala_Steamed says it can load files from memory and is capable of upper and lower case letters as well as numbers and symbols. With the size of the screen, there 7.357x10^92 different combinations the processor can display. Of course.
Our Halo 5 Guardians Beta Impressions
Koala_Steamed says he's working on adding RAM to improve saving and loading, and has plans to make it a "working computer with an ALU and CPU". You can bask in the complex glory of the word processor in the video, and check out Koala_Steamed's page for other advanced redstone projects.
