The $2.5 million Smite World Championship this weekend may be taking headlines in the MOBA space, but eyes will still be on Dota 2's The International later this year. Valve has announced the event will take place on August 3 to 8 in Seattle, Washington.

The International 2014 also took place in Seattle--specifically in KeyArena--but was held on July 18. Valve's short announcement didn't name the venue this time around, but it wouldn't be surprising to see the competition return to the 17,000 capacity arena.
As the dates signify, the Main Event will last six days this year and feature 16 teams. Invitations will go out to teams after May 1, and ticket sales will be announced on the same blog linked above when they become available.

If you're itching for MOBA competitive action, Smite's event will be viewable this weekend. The third-person title is a bit different than its contemporaries, but (as evidenced by the prize pool) Hi-Rez Studios' game has been growing in popularity.
