Doom 3 Gets A BFG Edition for Xbox 360, PC and Playstation 3

Let's not bury the lede here: you can now use your flashlight and gun at the same time in Doom 3.

The 2004 game is getting an HD facelift from id software and new owner Bethesda Softworks according to an exclusive from Polygon. Among being driven out to Doom co-creator John Carmack's testing space for rocket engines(!), Polygon reveals that Doom: BFG Edition will feature "will be the final say in Doom content to date. The package will include DoomDoom 2Doom 3Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil and a brand-new, 'lost' mission for Doom 3 with seven new levels, a new boss and two-to-three hours of content."

Set for release on Xbox 360, PC and Playstation 3, except the flashlight/weapon combo appears to be 360 only, the complete version of the entire Doom franchise is also being formatted for 3D and they're testing out complete immersion systems like headsets like Carmack's Oculus Rift. There's no specific release date set but Carmack told Polygon the came will come out sometime this fall.
