The second half of The Walking Dead season five is shrouded in mystery. There's one character who has been popping up in rumors and may even help fans pinpoint who the next major villain of the season will be.
The Talking Dead Delayed For Mid-Season Return
In a fan theory, the idea of a solo Morgan episode is brought up. It would help to explain why he's following the group and what made him leave to begin with. Something more than just a quick sound bite would be really great for this character.
Morgan Jones (Lennie James) has been hinted at having a larger role in the upcoming half season. We know that he's been tracking the group and there's a chance they'll meet up.
Carl Grimes May See Larger Role On The Walking Dead
Morgan has been with the show since the beginning. He was the first person that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) met with when he came out of his coma. Back then, Morgan mostly had it together. He didn't join the group when they traveled to Atlanta, choosing instead to stay behind.
When we saw him next, it was in the fabulous episode, "Clear" which also gave us the first clue that The Whisperers may be coming. He was a drastically changed man by then having lost his son.
We saw him again in episode 8 of season 5 but by then, his appearance was mostly overshadowed by Beth's death.
His journey could be the lead in to the reveal of the Whisperers. After all, his comments from "Clear" seem to indicate that he has run into the group before. It's tempting to just dismiss his words as the ramblings of a mad man but, who doesn't go a little crazy during the zombie apocalypse?
The Walking Dead returns February 8.
