Keiji Inafune may not be a household name like Shigeru Miyamoto, but he is still quite the gaming industry icon, having given us the venerable Mega Man series. His latest venture is Mighty No. 9, which was more that successfully Kickstarted last year. To ring in 2015, Inafune has released a new video showcasing one of the new levels for the game.
Kickstart This! TheOne - Mobile ARG Makes The World Your Battlefield
Mighty No. 9 is very much the spiritual successor to Mega Man, featuring a lovable cybernetic creation (who looks similar to our blue suited hero of old), the same firing mechanics and one would imagine, crushing difficulty. Kids these days, amirite?
According to Inafune, the game is “pretty much finished”. The team over at Comcept will be “burning the midnight oil” to bring the game to its multitude of platforms: Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, PS Vita, Wii U, 3DS, Windows, Linux, OSX. Might we get a mobile port one day, Mr. Inafune?
Drop Wizard, A Bubble Bobble-esque Premium Mobile Title Debuts Next Week
Currently, the game is set for release in April of this year.
Much like Mega Man, players control an android unit, this time named Beck, who is the 9th of a series of battle robots. Also like Mega Man, players choose the levels they wish to complete in any order and do battle with the eight other units in your series. One would imagine you gain their powers upon success.
The new level is somewhat Victorian, featuring lush red carpets, chandeliers and robots. Okay, so it’s more like Doctor Who Victorian era, but the style remains.
Mighty No. 9 is one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns in the history of the site. Let us hope it can live up to that come April. Watch the video below.
