Halo 5 Guardians Beta Update Improves Dedicated Server Selection

Halo 5 Guardians Beta Update Improves Dedicated Server Selection

The Halo 5: Guardians Beta is live, and generally working quite a bit better than 343's full title, The Master Chief Collection. Matchmaking can occasionally take a while, but is usually quick and the games are always even teams.

All of that said, 343 has seen fit to issue an update that improves matchmaking by changing dedicated server selection. The beta is only using dedicated servers, but there was an issue selecting the correct one based on region during the early access period that has been addressed. Here's 343 Community Manager Andy 'Bravo' Dudynsky via Halo Waypoint:

"Happy New Year! The next time you log into the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer Beta, you will be prompted to download a small content update. This particular content update improves matchmaking by adjusting how the dedicated servers are selected.

Thank you for your continued participation and feedback as we continue to improve and refine the Halo 5: Guardians Multiplayer experience.

We'll see you on the battleground!"

This should help reduce laggy games (which I personally have not had any of), but may not do much for matchmaking speeds (a larger issue between the two in my experience). Still, I'm sure this was an issue for some if it needed to be addressed, and the experience should be better than before.

The Halo 5 beta will be updated tomorrow, when BR starts will be introduced, new maps rolled in, and a new gametype introduced--visit here for a look at the details and update schedule.
