Ten Popular Games by Activision: #8

Activision has released some very notable franchises/games over the years and so I thought, why not do a run-through of ten video games that we all have heard a lot about and/or have played a few dozen times?

So #10 and #9 were pretty much the classic games from back in the day. They are by no means in a "bottom two" by any means, because let's face it, both grew to become very successful games that will remain video game classics.

Now, moving on to #8, we find an action RPG.

#8 "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" series

Who wouldn't love the opportunity to test out the abilities of Spiderman, Wolverine, Thor, or even Captain America? The "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance" series let you do just that and more.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance was released in 2006, and players are able to select teams of four from a range of more than 22 playable characters. Some characters are not available initially and need to be unlocked. The game features over 140 characters of heroes, villains, and even heroes that appear as a villain under mind control, such as Jean Gray for example. At the start of the game, Dr. Doom and the Masters of Evil launch an attack on the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier U.N.N. Alpha. Captain America, Thor, Spider-Man and Wolverine respond to Nick Fury's distress call, along with the other superheroes. Interestingly , The Game Boy Advance version features substantial differences from the other console versions.

In September of 2009, Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 was released in North America. After discovering that villains were receiving supplies from Tinkerer, provided by Prime Minister Lucia von Bardas, Colonel Nick Fury and his team (Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wolverine, in addition to several others) head out on an unsanctioned attack on Castle Doom in Latveria.

The Ultimate Alliance series won a few awards and had mixed reviews. The Gameboy version received the poorest scores, while the Xbox and PC versions maintained sharp graphical effects. The character cast was well-praised and although there were some unplayable characters that players may have favored most, there was a good chance that they'd show up at some point in time through the course of the story as an NPC.

With movies like, Iron Man, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Daredevil, The Avengers, etc. fans should be pretty pleased that they're favorite superheroes are still around and rising in popularity (some more than others) worldwide.
