Steam's sales are known to terrorize wallets with their great discounts and slashed prices, and none are more infamous than the holiday sale. 2014's edition has begun today, offering deals up until January 2.

The big deals on the first day of sales are Total War: Rome 2 ($60 to $15) Civilization Beyond Earth (from $50 to $30), and Dark Souls 2 ($40 to $14.79). Other deals include the great zombie-survival title State of Decay for $5 (was $20) and Counter Strike: Global Offensive for $10.04 (was $14.99). There are plenty more out there, though, so take a look for yourself.
The community sale isn't started on the first day, since there has not yet been a vote. For the first vote, you can choose between Hack 'N Slash, Neverending Nightmares, and The Amazing Spiderman 2. The first flash deals are Injustice: Gods Among Us, Speedrunners, Styx Master of Shadows, Microsoft Flight Simulator X, Hegemony: Rome The Rise of Caesar, and Damned.
