Because nothing warms the soul better on a cold winter day than traveling to magical, faraway Siberia, Crytek is getting players in the holiday spirit with the second act of their Operation Cold Peak campaign for Warface.

The second level of the assault on Blackwood’s Siberian stronghold is aptly titled ‘Ambush’. The map “challenges teams to storm a ruined castle and then hold strong when their mission turns out to be a deadly trap.” Which is quite surprising. I thought the name ‘Ambush’ was ironic.
“With the enemy closing in, players will have to risk it all as they work together to build defenses around their position whilst holding off wave after wave of attackers.”

The desperate pitched battle ends with a wintry blowout that includes Mother Nature in full on god mode and a particularly panicky Blackwood helicopter that will shoot at everything that moves.
The free to play Operation Cold Peak campaign is a three part campaign that will test players’ skill, strategy and survival instincts, tossing vets and newcomers alike into the unforgiving wrath of Siberia.
Today also marks the seven day home stretch until Christmas and Warface is celebrating alongside the rest of us. From now until December 25, players who log in will be treated to a treasure trove of goodies such as additional money, Christmas-themed weapons and outfits. The holiday update also adds two new items: a “Christmas Gift Box which doubles as a devious directional mine, and the Christmas Firecracker; a powerful pistol which resembles a Christmas cracker but goes off with a significantly bigger bang.”
The popular Hangar map has also been redone to be more seasonally appropriate.
Warface is a F2P co-op military shooter. You can download and jump into the action right now via Steam or the Official Site.
