The Creative Assembly is keeping extremely busy these days, releasing expansions for Total War: Rome II, developing standalone title Total War: Attila, and recently revealing Total War Kingdom.
Total War: Rome II Wrath Of Sparta Available Now
The studio has now announced a closed alpha for Total War Arena, a free-to-play, team-based strategy game. The game was originally announced last year and even entered a limited beta, but the team seems to have wound back the clock and is offering new alpha signups here.
In Arena, players control three units of warriors led by an iconic commander from history. Both the leaders and units level up to add more skills and abilities, which you make use of in ten-on-ten battles. The game is being created by a specific, single team at The Creative Assembly.
Total War Kingdom Offers Cross-Platform Play With PC And Mobile Devices
"We have spent time since the announcement evolving both the gameplay and the supporting technology, to ensure we deliver smooth online service for multiplayer gamers", said Gabor Beressy, Arena Project Lead. "We are excited to say that the game is now in Closed Alpha, and we welcome feedback from players to inform the next stages of development".
Total War: Kingdom (video below) is another different take on the usual Total War experience, offering a cross-platform experience between mobile devices and PC. Combined with Arena, fans interested in series spinoffs will have a few options to choose from. If you'd rather stick to the core experience, Attila releases next year.
