Assassin's Creed Unity Patch 4 Releases On PS4, Xbox One Today: 6.7 GB Update Aims To Fix Frame Rate Issues

Assassin's Creed Unity's Latest Patch Is Massive, But It's Finally Supposed To Fix Frame Rate Issues

Well that wasn't too long of a wait. When Ubisoft said yesterday that Patch 4 for Assassin's Creed Unity would be delayed, apparently they just meant by one day. The massive patch is rolling out today for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with the PC patch coming later this week.

Destiny Hotfix Cleans Up A Problem With The Dark Below

The focus of this huge patch (weighing in at a staggering 6.7 GB) is to increase the game's performance, both in terms of frame rate and online connectivity. Since launch, Unity players had discovered that some moments in the game caused the frame rate to drop to pretty choppy levels, but the game's patches have largely left the issue untouched until now. The reason the update has such a big file size is that it actually replaces parts of the Paris city map with more efficient versions, which will hopefully spare players' frame rates in these locations.

Ubisoft promises that, though the update size is 6.7 GB, it won't increase the game's file size by that much since a lot of the patch's content simply serves as replacement for the game's existing code.

New DLC Hits Shadow Of Mordor

According to the Patch 4 patch notes on the Ubisoft forums, PS4 and Xbox One owners can expect to see the update go live by the end of the day. PC players will have to wait a bit longer, but the notes say that the PC patch will be available by the end of the week.

Beyond fixing frame rate issues, Unity's Patch 4 also takes care of a few issues with the game's co-op multiplayer. Connection issues have been taken care of, as have problems with the game's online functionalities like Helix credits and the My Club feature.

Assassin's Creed Unity is now available for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
