Smite's next new combatant has been revealed, and more information is now available thanks to the game's Dev Insights. From what we can see of her kit, Awilix, Mayan goddess of the moon, is not going to be an easy assassin to run away from.
The Original Strife: Veteran Edition Brings A DOS Classic To Steam Players
Right out of the gate, Awilix stands out among Smite's pantheon thanks to her mount, a jaguar named Suku. For her first ability, Awilix hops on Suku, gaining a speed boost that will make escaping her a difficult task for enemy gods. Awilix can then leap off Suku to do damage in an area. If she cancels the ability before performing the leap, however, the ability's cooldown will not trigger.
Awilix's second ability lets her leap over the last enemy she hit, damaging them in the process. The damage of this ability varies based on where Awilix is in her basic attack cycle when she uses it. Her third ability brings Suku back onto the playing field. Awilix sends her jaguar out in front of her, damaging each enemy he hits. If the enemy happens to be facing away when he's hit by Suku, he'll be popped up into the air.
Civilization: Beyond Earth Patch Hits Mac; Linux Version Launching Soon
Once an enemy is knocked into the air, Awilix's ultimate ability then allows her to bring them down to her. When she triggers her ultimate, not only will she get a boost in both attack speed and damage, but she'll also pull in the nearest enemy in front of her who is either knocked into the air or is in the middle of a leap. Either way, the enemy is then pulled in close to Awilix, sustaining damage when they land. It's a great way to thwart the plans of an enemy who's trying to use a leap to get themselves out of a battle.
Awilix will make her grand entrance in the next Smite patch. Smite is now free to play for PC.
