In 2015 Rise of the Tomb Raider is coming out from Crystal Dynamics. In order to get fans amped for the new game, the developer is creating a live-action series to act as a prequel to the game according to Joystiq.
TMNT Sequel to See Two Iconic Characters Make Their Way to Big Screen
This news came via the actor Stephen Lunsford's Instagram where he states they will be creating a live action prequel to the game. The mini-series will be released with the game and not only will it be the set up for the game itself, but also an eventual lead into a full live action feature.
It is an "unofficial production created by fans for the fans of the Tomb Raider franchise," says Lunsford on his Instagram post. "We are however working with Crystal Dynamics to bring the most accurate representation of the character and the Tomb Raider universe!"

Also of note is the silence on what Lunsford will actually be doing for the miniseries. He is an actor, having recently been seen on MTV's Teen Wolf, but he also has a few writing credits under his belt. Most relevant of which was the work done on Tomb Raider Facts, a series of YouTube shorts that were done with Crystal Dynamics.
This would be the latest film in the Tomb Raider series but not the first time it's seen any sort of live action treatment. There was the infamous Tomb Raider film back in 2001 with Angelina Jolie (as well as its 2003 sequel) and if those are all you have to measure against, it's not hard to do better.
Rise of the Tomb Raider is reported to be an Xbox exclusive and the prequel live action will only be released on the system as well sometime in 2015
