An official poster has been released for the follow up to Frank Miller's Sin City, A Dame to Kill For. Miller and Sin City director Robert Rodriguez will again team up to direct the sequel.
Rumors of Angelina Jolie to play the titular dame Ava Lord remains to be seen, though many of the cast from the previous film are set to return. Characters featured in Dame included Rosario Dawson's Gail, and Mickey Rourke's Marv, roles they're set to reprise for the sequel. Michael Madsen has also said he'll return to play corrupt cop Bob. No word yet on if Michael Clarke Duncan will return to play gold eyed mobster Manute, or Clive Owen as Dame main character Dwight (but if he is, expect a drastic change in appearance from the first film).
Sin City is based on Frank Miller's neo-noir style comic book. The comic was done in high contrast, using predominately black and white with no shades of gray. This allowed for color to highly stand out when was, albeit rarely, used. The film followed this style as much as possible and was critically acclaimed, winning a technical grand prize for "visual shaping" at the Cannes Film Festival.
The first Sin City was comprised of 3 of Miller's works, "The Hard Goodbye," "That Yellow Bastard," and "The Big Fat Kill," a continuation for Dwight from his last chronological appearance in "A Dame to Kill For." No word yet on what other Sin City stories will be featured in the sequel.
Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set for a October 4th release of next year.
