BlackBerry is stepping up its Black Friday game with an ongoing discount on its Passport and Z30 smartphones and an iPhone trade-in program that starts next month.
Chromecast Announces 7 New Apps With Cast Compatibility
For the rest of November, you can buy an unlocked BlackBerry Passport from BlackBerry's own store for $499, $200 off its normal sticker price. This is only for the black model, though. The white model is still sitting at $599 (still a $100 saving) while the red Passport doesn't seem to be discounted at all. The Z30 is also heavily discounted for the next few days, sitting at a price of only $225, more than half off of its regular $499 price tag.
Even once this Black Friday sale is done, however, BlackBerry won't be done trying to get you to switch over to their smartphone line. Starting December 1, BlackBerry will give you up to $550 for iPhones as old as the 4S if you also buy a BlackBerry Passport. The Passport needs to be purchased on or before December 1, though, so you can't take advantage of both this deal and the current Black Friday prices. Of course, to get the full $550, you'll need to trade in an iPhone 6, which, unless you're extremely disappointed with the product Apple just put out months ago, you'll likely not want to do. Still, getting $250 for an iPhone 4S isn't too bad.

This deal runs until February 13. You can check out how much your iPhone is worth to BlackBerry over here.
The Z30 is BlackBerry's year-old smartphone. Its specs aren't spectacular, but for a phone you can pick up for $225 this week, it's a solid traditional smartphone. Comparatively, the Passport is a bit of a niche product. Its almost square shape (it gets its name from being the same size as a common passport) is not what you'd expect out of a smartphone, and neither is the full, physical keyboard. Despite its odd design, its innards put it on par hardware-wise with other top smartphones out on the market today.
